Welcome to Frankfurt

Well, this is quite a momentous occasion for me. The first post on my blog!I truly hope you enjoy the stories and pictures I have to share of our time here, and that it makes us feel a little closer to you at home. We've been here almost three months and time has just flown by. We've been lucky enough to have a very mild winter and an early start to spring, this city really comes to life when the sun is out and the weather is warm. Locals waiting in loooong queues to eat 'eiscream', the grassed embankment of main (pronounced mine) river covered with a sea of people on the weekend drinking steins and hugo's (more on this drink to come) and cooking on their BBQ's grills. So here is a little taste of our lovely neighbourhood, Sachsenhausen.
The view from our street down towards Schweizer Strasse

On the Main, with the Frankfurter Dom in the distance
Footbridge on the Museumsufer leading towards the city
Views of part of Frankfurt from the Footbridge (sadly there is a lot of construction going on and as a result, there's a lot of cranes ruining the view!)
The Städel Museum, less than 5 minutes walk from our place. Some exhibitions held there last between three to six months
Pretty as a picture Frankfurt am Main
Being a weekday, this is the embankment on a slow day. The weekends are hectic!
One of the many fresh fruit & veg stalls that we frequent on Schweizer Strasse
Views towards the city from Schweizer Strasse
I don't know about you, but buying fresh flowers weekly to display in the apartment makes me happy!
